Grand Tour Artists

c. 1700–1820

Grand Tour artists were inspired by travel to classical sites in Europe. They depicted ruins, landscapes, and idealized scenes. Artworks served as cultural souvenirs for elite travelers. Classical antiquity shaped both subject matter and style.
